Florida SHOTS Blog
With the start of a new year comes new functionality for Florida SHOTS and new benefits for Florida SHOTS users. Easy-to-use adolescent assessment reports as well as assessment report options that conform to the CDC’s AFIX standards are now available for providers.
Adolescent assessment options will allow providers to evaluate coverage for recommended and required childhood and adolescent vaccines such as HPV, Tdap, and Meningitis.
Reports using AFIX compatibility allow providers to see immunization levels based on the CDC’s national standards, which allows for better assessment, a reduction in missed opportunities, and improved standards of practice.
Florida SHOTS offers several report options once an assessment file is created. Providers can run a “Survey” report that shows their coverage assessment similar to that of the National Immunization Survey—showing coverage levels for compliance with recommended age-appropriate vaccinations. A “Summary” report displays coverage levels for compliance with each of the recommended age-appropriate vaccination series and several combinations. The AFIX report shows the measurements reported to CDC and any “Missed Opportunities.” There is also a customizable “Patient List” report.
All these reports will help providers to see areas of strength and where improvements can be made to standards of practice in order to increase coverage levels and reduce missed opportunities. To learn more about the new reporting options, try out the recorded webinar “Assessing Immunization Coverage Levels (AFIX)” available in the Training section of flshotsusers.com.
Did you know there are a few things you can do to prevent duplicate records from ever being created? Providing full names, up-to-date addresses, and completing as many fields as possible allows Florida SHOTS to cross-reference information and update existing records. Also, remember to click on “Release Patient Record” when you’re done to prevent locked records and uploading errors.
